La Gourmande is Francoise, a multitalented woman, an artist, body painter, an amateur of "made from scratch" and forever passionate about chocolate and chocolate work.
After a motor vehicle accident forced her to reevaluate her occupation, she decided to create a chocolate business. It started with the idea of infusing chocolate with Lion's Mane, a medicinal, non-psychotropic mushroom that was instrumental in her recovery. Suffering from mental fogs and a lack of focus, she tried Lion's Mane, and she quickly saw that it helped her regain mental focus and clarity. She felt compelled to share the wonder with others somehow.
A challenge for sure to create a chocolate business but also a way to try a play a part in the new conscious economy emerging. It has been clear from the start that la Gourmande would only use certified fairtrade and organic ingredients and source locally as much as possible.
A small-scale, one-person venture, la Gourmande is an artisanal venture producing small batches of chocolate bars ( 40 to 100) and will go on making all efforts to continue improve the her production and her impact.

We acknowledge that La Gourmande operates on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Kwikwetlem, Matsqui, Sto:lo and Kwantlen first nations.
